In Conversation with Shari Lapena

As the days get shorter and colder what better way to spend an evening than checking out the Lethbridge Public Library’s The Word On The Street Fall Reading Series? Thursday, December 10, marks the final speaker in our series. While the month of November was devoted to non-fiction, for our final event we once turn once again to fiction, and to the genre of domestic thrillers, in particular. The Library is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting Shari Lapena, author of The End of Her, in an online interview.

Shari Lapena is the internationally bestselling author of the thrillers The Couple Next Door, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, and Someone We Know, all of which have been New York Times and Sunday Times bestsellers. Her books have been sold in 35 territories around the world. Prior to trying her hand at fiction, she was both a lawyer and English teacher. She currently lives in Toronto.

Lapena’s latest novel, The End of Her, is a domestic suspense tale, featuring a long-ago accident and an unexpected visitor from the past. Stephanie and Patrick are adjusting to life with their colicky twin girls. The babies are a handful, but even as Stephanie struggles with the disorientation of sleep deprivation, there’s one thing she’s sure of: she has all she ever wanted. Then Erica, a woman from Patrick’s past, appears and makes a disturbing accusation. Patrick had always said his first wife’s death was an accident, but now Erica claims it was murder. Patrick insists he’s innocent, that this is nothing but a blackmail attempt. Still, Erica knows things about Patrick–things that make Stephanie begin to question her husband. Stephanie isn’t sure what, or who, to believe. As Stephanie’s trust in Patrick begins to falter, Patrick stands to lose everything. Is Patrick telling the truth–is Erica the persuasive liar Patrick says she is? Or has Stephanie made a terrible mistake?
