This 2016 Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film is spellbinding. In 1916, while war between Arab nationalists and Ottoman Turks rages, a pre-adolescent Theeb is being raised by his older brother in a traditional Bedouin community. The brothers’ quiet existence is suddenly interrupted when a British Army officer arrives looking for a guide to lead him through dangerous terrain riddled with mercenaries, revolutionaries and outcast raiders.
