“The Community is the Medicine: Personal & Community Wellness Workshop” will take place in the Theatre Gallery on Tuesday, September 18 as part of Reconciliation Week.

Communities face significant challenges as they strive to respond to the ongoing trauma of colonial intervention. The impacts have been a high level of suicide and crisis, violence and conflict, and addiction. The Community is the Medicine will assist our community to take charge of our wellness by empowering us all to respond effectively to the issues that our community faces.

Through a respectful and interactive approach to teaching, participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and skills, and to build on their own strengths. Essential knowledge will be provided, community-based strategies developed, and techniques practiced that promote a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual balance that simultaneously enhance and integrate individual and community well-being.

Hosted by Darien Thira, a registered psychologist who has served as a community development/mental health consultant for many Aboriginal communities across Canada for over 20 years, this workshop is not to be missed! Registration is free, but limited to 100, so get your spot today!

This is a full-day event (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
