Remembering Influenza: Western Canadian Experiences During the 1918-1919 Pandemic
Presented by Esyllt Jones

This lecture will address individual, family and community responses to the 'flu pandemic, and explore how the event has been privately and publicly remembered in the context of the ‘twin horrors’ of war and disease.

Esyllt Jones is an award winning author/editor of several books. Her most recent research on influenza focuses on questions of grief, mourning and memory. Dr. Jones is currently Professor of History at the University of Manitoba and Dean of Studies at St. John’s College in Winnipeg.

This series is in partnership with the University of Lethbridge, the Lethbridge Historical Society and the Lethbridge Public Library.
