What does a library card cost?

There is no fee for a Lethbridge Public Library card in 2020. Other Chinook Arch member libraries have varying membership fees, and set their own loan periods, renewal limits, and overdue fines for library materials. Your home library is assigned based on your home address. Check your home library's website for more information at: http://www.chinookarch.ca/about-us/member-libraries

Who can apply for a library card online?

If you are a resident of Lethbridge, or a resident of any Chinook Arch member municipality, and are 18 years of age or older, complete the form below to get your eCard.

How can I apply for a library card online?

What can I access once I get my eCard number?

You will have instant access to all library resources including eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, magazines and newspapers, online learning tools and research databases. You can also place holds on most items.

Can I borrow physical items with an eCard number?

Yes. To start borrowing physical items, visit a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library and present your eCard number and ID to a staff member.

What if I want a physical card?

You can get a physical library card by visiting a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library and presenting your eCard number and ID to a staff member. Your original eCard number that was assigned to you online will change to a physical card number.

Please be aware that if you change your eCard to a physical library card, your accounts will need to be merged to retain access to your holds, borrowed items, and online services. To merge your accounts, contact membersupport@chinookarch.ca

I tried to apply online and it keeps giving me error messages.

Some of the possible reasons for the errors are an already existing account, misspelled street names, etc. Please visit a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library to apply for a card or contact ecard@chinookarch.ca for help registering online.

Why can’t the form confirm my address?

Some addresses cannot be verified. If this is the case, visit a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library to apply for a card or contact ecard@chinookarch.ca for help registering online.

I applied but didn’t receive the welcome email.

Your security settings may be blocking the email. Please check your spam/junk mail folder.

Can I get an eCard to replace a lost or stolen card?

No. Please contact a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library immediately to report your lost or stolen card. You will need to replace it in person.

Can I renew my library card online?

Not currently. We are hoping to offer this soon. In the meantime, please visit a branch of the Lethbridge Public Library and present ID to renew your library card.
